NOT ACTIVE – Senior Data Scientist – Fully remote

It’s time to take your Data Science career into a new dimension.

This is a chance to immerse yourself in a wealth of video data as you work with a unique database of human emotions – one of the most extensive in the world today. You’ll be working at the forefront of a fascinating field, where machine learning intersects with behavioral science and psychology.

What’s the role?

You’ll be part of a five-strong product team working remotely around Europe. The company already works with a host of household name clients in technology and marketing. As the business grows, they really need someone with statistical skills who understands computer vision and deep learning to sharpen the quality of their data.

There are two strands to the role. The first is to ask questions, create metrics, and build models to improve the quality of the data the company holds. There’s a satisfying blend of statistical design and coding with a more human aspect – you’ll be looking at how the data can more accurately capture different emotions and expressions and how that varies for people across different demographics.

Then there’s the visualisation side of the job – telling a story with the data and the relationships within it. Here, you can have a major impact on the company’s future – the more transparent you can make the data, the more useful it will be for making decisions, right up to C-Suite level.

Your skills will certainly be valued here. You’ll have plenty of autonomy too: room to inject your ideas and explore different data science problems. If you’re looking for more recognition and freedom at work, this is an ideal move.

What you can add

We’re looking for someone who’s completed a Master’s or PhD in a scientific/ engineering subject before gaining some hands-on experience of data science, solving real-life business problems. That preferably includes predictive modeling – ideally, supervised learning and statistical inference – and projects in Computer Vision (CV) and Deep Learning; ideally, you’ve worked with video data previously.

Technically, we’re looking for as many of the following as possible on your CV:

  • Python
  • Cloud experience would be a bonus: AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Tools: MLFlow, neptune.ai or h20flow would be a plus but not essential
  • Visualisation skills: PowerBI / Tableau

The team leaders are already busy on projects of their own, so you need to be a self-starter – someone who’s happy working independently and driving forward their own work.

Of course, proven people skills are vital too – it’s a collaborative environment where you’ll be sharing ideas with fellow data scientists, data engineers, and ML researchers, as well as customer-facing colleagues and senior leaders.

About the business

You’ll be part of a ground-breaking, fast-growing business with an entrepreneurial leadership team. They’ve brought together some of the world’s best brains in computer vision and deep learning to create AI that can interpret facial expressions and, in turn, human emotions. Their market-leading tech has won multiple industry awards and secured partnerships with some of the world’s best-known brands, agencies, and media companies.

You can work fully remotely from anywhere in Europe – you’ll find this is an open, collaborative culture where everyone has the opportunity to work with flexibility and freedom. Your contribution can directly influence the direction of the business as they aim to combine academic research and machine learning ideas to create practical business applications.
