NOT ACTIVE – Principal Scientist – Pharmacometrics – Near Ulm or Frankfurt

Become the voice of data science at one of the world’s leading research-driven pharmaceutical companies.

Interested in pushing the boundaries of model-informed drug development? Want to play a part in reinventing clinical drug development?

Your goal is to accelerate clinical development timelines. Doing this will contribute to the discovery of breakthrough therapies, ultimately improving human health and creating value for patients.

And in this highly-visible role, there’s always an opportunity for career growth.

What’s the role?

If you’re used to working in a silo, this role couldn’t be more different.

Joining a 33-strong Pharmacometrics function within the Data Science group, the work is focused across specific therapeutic areas such as oncology, inflammation, cardiology, respiratory diseases and diseases of the central nervous system.

You’d be supporting projects from one clinical phase to the next, identifying opportunities where Pharmacometrics can further the company’s understanding of the pharmacological activity, efficacy and safety.

You’ll even have the satisfaction of seeing projects develop from the very start –before even first-in-human trials.

From there, you’ll be involved in defining the decision points after each phase of the study and support projects through to successful regulatory approval and beyond.

Working alongside intelligent colleagues from diverse cultures and professional backgrounds, you can contribute to a wealth of initiatives. As a key team member, you’ll also represent Pharmacometrics both internally and externally.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing the pharmacometrics strategy and contributing to the asset evidence plan for clinical development projects.
  • Planning and carrying out quantitative analyses to support internal decision-making, disease understanding and successful approval. For example; Pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, exposure-response, disease progression modelling, and model-based meta-analysis.
  • Continuously evaluating novel pharmacometrics approaches and driving their development – this could be pharmacometrics tools, software, hardware or related business processes.
  • Contributing to internal and external initiatives in your therapeutic area of expertise; developing links with key opinion leaders both in pharmacometrics and data science in general.

What you’ll add:

You’ll have been exposed to modelling, whether in clinical OR preclinical drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, regulatory agencies or academia. If you have the right industry knowledge, you could also join with a background in pharmacy, physics or system engineering.

Alongside a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field, you’ll also have a strong level of experience in Pharmacometrics/Data Science.

If you’re a Senior, you may either be keen to drive the strategy for a particular therapeutic area where you have strong knowledge of pharmacometrics approaches.

Or, if you’re someone who’s passionate about scientific progress, then you’ll be interested in implementing new approaches.

You’ll also add:

  • Non-linear mixed-effects modelling (NLME) experience using NONMEM or Monolix.
  • R programming experience would be useful, especially in: data processing, running simulations, plotting, shiny apps etc (MATLAB or SAS also considered).
  • Coaching junior colleagues in specific scientific approaches.
