NOT ACTIVE – Data Engineer – £55,000-£70,000/yr
When was the last time you stopped to question why you do what you do? What’s driving your work? Could the work you do with data be making a bigger difference?
This is an opportunity to work on a variety of different client projects with a common goal: to improve society by helping people make better decisions with data.
You’ll be part of a consultancy that’s delivered more than 400 successful projects for clients in healthcare, defence, local and central government. Their ethos is to use data for good, questioning assumptions and applying creativity to solve difficult problems for their customers.
Provided you’re happy zipping between different projects, it’s a chance to tackle some really engaging, absorbing work, alongside a team of people who are genuinely positive about the impact they’re making.
As a data engineer, you’ll work on a range of projects, each as part of a team comprising both client-facing and technical colleagues – Project, Managers, Business Analysts and Consultants. There’s plenty of variety – projects can span data strategy, discovery, interaction, interpretation, architecture and governance.
Your focus will be ETL and Business Intelligence (BI) aspects – for example, developing scalable data services or creating visualisations that enable clients to derive actionable insights. You’ll also help to build data pipelines, collecting and interpreting the data clients need to carry out advanced analytics and reporting.
No two projects are the same but once you’re up to speed, you’ll typically work on site with clients one day a week and flexibly the rest of the time. Ideally, you’re based within easy reach of Bristol or Sheffield.
You’re probably at the point in your career where you’re confident in your data engineering skills and looking to apply them on more meaningful projects. Or perhaps you want a chance to develop your people skills – for example taking the lead on projects or helping to grow a team.
