NOT ACTIVE – Data Domain Owner – Fair Quality & Assessment – €100,000 – €120,000 + 10-15% bonus

You know better than most, the importance of making data FAIR.

We don’t need to persuade you that it’s a fundamental enabler for digital transformation, helping organisations to collaborate better, unlock hidden knowledge and accelerate their research – whether that’s via AI, Machine Learning or human brainpower.

But are you using your FAIR expertise to help make a positive impact on the wider world?

Join this privately-owned global pharma business as a Data Domain Owner and you’ll be working at the heart of a digital transformation that will fuel innovation in medical research.

By helping to integrate the company’s large, multimodal preclinical datasets you’ll be enabling scientists and researchers across the world to discover novel biological mechanisms and develop new treatments in animal and human health.

What’s the role?

You’ll be part of the company’s newly created data analytics group whose brief is to reinvent R&D by capturing the value of datasets including electronic health records (EHR), biobanks, genetic data, MRIs and protein data.

Provided you can get to grips with the complexity of the research landscape here, it’s a fantastic chance to see the impact of your work from start to finish – you’ll lay the foundations of a system that will give scientists critical access to the data they need for years to come.

Broadly, there are two sides to your job. On one hand, you’ll set up the right technical frameworks, defining the long-term vision for your data domain and translating FAIR principles into specific milestones.

On the other, it’s about shaping people’s mindsets. You will be a catalyst for change, working closely with stakeholders and decision-makers across the company to encourage more data-centric thinking.

If you’re looking for a data role that allows you to make a more visible contribution, this is the ideal next step.

What you can add

You don’t need pharmaceutical experience, so it could be the perfect opportunity to bring your skills to a sector where you can make more of a difference to the world. You will need excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – this is a highly consultative role, where you’ll need to foster good relationships to inspire change.

Beyond that, we’re looking for most of the following on your CV:

  • A Master’s or PhD in computer science, bioinformatics or a related field
  • Success managing larger FAIR data programs, including experience in data assessment and exploration projects, and in building data quality assessment frameworks.
  • Ideally, some exposure to data in a healthcare or life sciences setting.
  • A proven ability to manage projects and processes – you’ve successfully delivered change and lead project teams.
  • Knowledge relating to data/platform governance would be a plus, including lifecycle management and release management.

About the Organisation

You’ll be joining a global top-20 pharma business with a research-driven focus on innovative therapies that can extend patient’s lives; there’s always something new in the pipeline here.

The company is family-owned so people can focus on long-term goals, not short-term shareholder returns. It’s this forward-thinking philosophy that enable them to invest heavily in unlocking the value of data as well as their people’s growth. All in all, it’s a fantastic place to develop your data career.
