NOT ACTIVE – Senior Data Scientist – Salary flexible depending on experience + 15% bonus

Shouldn’t data science be about exploring the possibilities – shaping commercial strategies and even changing people’s lives?

If you’re frustrated in your current job by prototypes that never make it through modeling or are stuck on a repetitive range of data sets, this is your chance to achieve so much more.

Vital, visible roles

We’re looking for both data scientists and senior data scientists to join a privately-owned global pharma business that truly understands the value of data science. These are newly created roles in a central team that works across the whole business on projects and use cases touching both human and animal health.

The company is currently investing heavily to grow their data science and engineering offering so you’ll have the visibility and support structures you need to turn bright ideas into business results – results that could deliver better outcomes for millions of patients.

The day to day

Whatever level you join us at, it’s a chance to work across the entire project lifecycle: from working with stakeholders to help understand and solve their problems to exploring the data, building MVPs then scaling up your models. There’s a huge demand for your services and dedicated IT support (e.g. from Software Engineers) so you’ll find that a high proportion of your models make it into production here. If you want to use your skills to make an impact, this is an ideal move.

Because you’ll be collaborating with colleagues in many different business units, you’ll work on a refreshing variety of projects with diverse data sets –that could be extracting knowledge from medical papers, using AI to reduce treatment times, use cases with electronic patient data or optimizing stock levels in the supply chain…anywhere you can add value.

In the senior role, you’ll work on more complex projects as well as managing and mentoring junior colleagues. For both levels, you’ll work in a hybrid model that fits your needs with a few days in the office near Frankfurt for workshops & meetings.

The future…

That’s just for starters. On a wider scale, you’ll be pivotal to shaping the data science offering of the future, via the company’s new academy – that could be raising awareness of what data science can do, around the business, or empowering and upskilling new recruits.

There’s scope to broaden your experience by working with data hubs in different international locations, backed by some amazing training that will keep you on top of your game, both technically and commercially. All this with a business that understands that disruption and digital capability will drive their long-term success.

What you need

You’ll need a good balance of technical and commercial skills. So, alongside at least a Master’s (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Maths, Stats (or similar), you’ll need a record of delivering and (for the senior role) leading data science projects, right from the early stages.

You’re comfortable working in an Agile culture and you’ve shown you have the all-round communication skills to work with a variety of stakeholders – in person, in writing, in English and in German.

Technically, we’re looking for accomplished programming skills and familiarity with as many of the following as possible:

  • Python programming
  • Querying SQL and NoSQL databases – and ideally the Hadoop stack too
  • OpenShift environment (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • AWS
