NOT ACTIVE – Sales Engineer – £80-100k + 20% bonus

Are you a Sales Engineer with a data science background looking for your next move?

Or are you a Data Scientist looking to switch to Sales?

You’ll support the delivery of revenue across a wide range of EMEA accounts and industrial sectors; providing machine learning, supporting technology and domain advice.

Customers need to see the product in action before they’ll invest. Which is where you come in.

Together with a small team of like-minded makers, your job will focus on pre-sales activity; building a bespoke pilot product for the client. If the customer likes it, it’s a tech win for you.

And with plans to double the team every year, you’ll have a real opportunity for career growth and visibility in this integral role.

What’s the role?

As a Sales Engineer, you’ll work alongside Sales Directors to be the trusted data science advisor to prospects, customers and partners.

You’ll be selling an open-source product that can quickly and efficiently handle data of any size or scale, making it easier to demonstrate value to customers and secure sales.

Your working environment will be a friendly, safe space that encourages innovation and creativity. Your team will support you, motivate you and nurture you. In addition to regular catch-ups with your manager to track your development, you’ll also participate in coaching sessions with other team members.

The job is virtually remote, with some travel to see potential clients. And on a social level, you’ll be part of a team who enjoys each other’s company, with a social meeting taking place every Tuesday in London.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Owning account-related technical items and relationships throughout the sales lifecycle (account planning, opportunity identification and solution design);
  • Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders across various levels of seniority, demonstrating your thought leadership and gaining buy-in;
  • Translating business-use cases and requirements into value-based technical solutions, ranging from the architecture of machine learning workflows and systems from data ingestion to model deployment;
  • Demonstrating machine learning solutions with engaging storytelling and technical accuracy;
  • Creating, designing and delivering compelling presentations on complex and technical concepts;
  • Crafting business documents such as statements of work, responses for proposals and all written customer engagement communications;
  • Leading successful proofs of values and concepts.

What you’ll add

To be successful in sales, you’ll already have excellent communication skills.

You’ll be driven and eager to develop a complex understanding of technical platforms.

And most importantly, you can apply this understanding to help facilitate the sales process.

 You’ll also add:

  • Experience in both data science AND a customer-facing role;
  • Detailed technical understanding of machine learning and its practical application;
  • Understanding of Python and R, JavaScale and Spark;
  • Ability to sell software and solutions, focusing on value rather than just features and functions;
  • An understanding of ETL tools (including data preparation and cleansing).
